In an interview, Brennan referenced conservative media outlets such as The Wall Street Journal and National Review, which had expressed disapproval of Gabbard’s perspectives on Edward Snowden and Assad. Vance countered by dismissing these publications, asserting that they had “lost relevance” and that it is the American populace, rather than the media, who determine the individuals that serve in the president’s cabinet. He underscored Gabbard’s military experience and exemplary record, contending that she could help restore confidence in U.S. intelligence agencies, which he argued had become politicized. Despite Brennan’s persistent inquiries, Vance remained resolute, highlighting Gabbard’s credentials. Gabbard seems to have sufficient support for confirmation, with Senators Lisa Murkowski and Bill Cassidy voicing their endorsement.
